The Chocolate Analogy
July 14, 2008 at 1:28 pm | In Confuzzled, I, Word Sketch | 28 CommentsTags: chocolate analogy, hesitation, procrastination
There’s this kind of chocolate that I’ve been wanting to try for some time now, 2 years to be exact. Why didn’t I just get one to know how good it is, you ask. It’s because I’m not really fond of chocolates. I only eat a few kinds and this certain chocolate isn’t that appetizing to me.
Still I keep on wanting it.
Why do I want to taste it?
I can’t say it’s because of the rarity because it’s not! I know a lot of people have already tasted it. I just don’t know if they went for seconds.
It’s not because of the popularity because it’s more infamous than it is otherwise.
And why didn’t I just taste it?
It’s not because I’m a health-freak. I’ve eaten fattier, more caloric, sweeter, darker, more sinful food.
It’s definitely not because I’m afraid to get addicted to it. If it’s not cigarettes, I can manage.
I told myself a few weeks ago that I’d just let go of all irrelevant hesitations and just taste the damn thing. Taste it. Eat it. Take it whole. Break it into pieces. Melt it. Freeze it. Start it. End it.
End it. End it.
Now, I’m left with no other choice.
Some brighteyed girl beat me to the chocolate.
Alas, I’ll never know what that kind of sin tastes like.

Note to self: from now on, I’ll eat whatever I want whenever I want.

is this metaphoric?
All that i can say is (if this isn’t) you can have whatever you want just as long as you have portion control, you ackwnoledge that you want a TASTE of it not to SPLURGE on it.
There’s a difference between having a TASTE of something to having EVERYTHING which will make you regret why you had such amount of pleasure.
Oh diba. Hahaha!

great analogy. go for it! for a different “chocolate”!
Comment by bernee — July 14, 2008 #
Dark for me, too… or semi-sweet. hehe…
But hey, if there’s a reason why I am against splurging, it’s not the fact that it can harm you. Rather, you must avoid splurging simply because doing so might make you realize that the thing you’ve been pursuing, when you’ve had too much, is not so great after all and your effort and passion is not worthwhile.
Lalim. Parang adik.
Nasobrahan ako sa chocolate kanina eh.
Sama ng effect, noh?
