Confused Barney

This is my niece’s confused Barney.

Me thinks Rudolph will kick his lame, purple ass.

Christmas 2009

I don’t remember much of this year’s Christmas Eve because I was too sleepy and too bored. Sleepy kasi I left Manila for Bataan at 3am. Note to self: next year kung kina Lola uli ang noche buena, I’ll organize it.

Maffy, Ate Bel and Me… I love my cousins!

Nafeel ko lang yata ang Christmas nung nag-inuman kami ng 2 of my most favorite cousins, Ate Bel and Maffy. Shempre, left-overs ng noche buena plus more ang handa namin. Zinfandel (white, strawberry… yum), Vodka (cheapo vodka you prolly know of as The Bar. In ferla, ok ang green apple), ham, roasted chicken, pansit bijon plus supersarap (ouch sakit ng batok ko) chicharon and balot (na muntikan ako himatayin sa sisiw. yuck. so itim, parang hindi bibe eh. parang uwak.) Hardcore catching up inuman since madalang kami magkita.

Grabe, Maf is so slim now. Kelangan ko nang habulin! :p

Mas nafeel ko ang Christmas when Mama, Daddy and I went to Subic to watch an MMFF entry and to eat at Aristocrat. Yearly tradition kasi namin ‘yan. Good for ze health. Dindin at Aristocrat was great. Parang good ol’ times lang. 🙂

Yun na yon. Yun na ang Christmas ko. Sana mas exciting yung sa’yo.

Belated Merry Christmas to you and you and you!

What I am excited about this Christmas…

(Warning: there are only a few things!)

1. Going home. I call Bataan home, but it’s only due to default my parents being there. I’m confused where home really is.
2. Seeing my parents. I haven’t seen them in over two months.
3. Eating lechon and misua con patola. This Christmas combo only exist in our household, I guess.
4. Sleeping! I haven’t had decent sleep since I don’t know when, and I intend to use Christmastime to catch loads of zzzzzzz’s.
5. Lounging at the beach. I just have to be careful, I don’t want to get sunbaked again.

Errr… that’s it. I’m not that psyched to see my relatives. I’m not into reunions. And I am definitely not looking forward to my duties as ninang and tita. Not that I don’t care about the Santoses, of course I do. It’s just that I don’t like getting all too senti during holidays. It just seems fake in some ways. I’d rather spend time with them during ordinary days. That’s just me. I’m not a big fan of Christmas.

Anyhooz, not that gifts and food are most significant focal points of Christmas.

6. Be quiet and converse with the birthday celebrant. Preferably right after #3 and while #5.

Ode to the Warrior Fairy

(Tribute to me DAW)

Warrior Fairy, lithe and fair,
Sailing softly through the air.
Hear the beating of the drum –
Rhythms of the war to come.

Be attentive, be prepared;
Warrior Fairy, don’t be scared.
Take your wand, grab your bow.
Don’t forget your magic arrow.

Trolls and ogres are marching in;
Bringing terror with a grin.
Warrior Fairy, do not run
Cast a spell or raise your…gun (?)

Listen, listen! Hear that sound?
Trees are falling to the ground.
Fairy Woods are burning down.
Warrior Fairy – do not frown!

Warrior Fairy, it’s time to fight.
Put your enemies to flight.
Strike your wand and fire your arrows.
Put an end to all your sorrows.

Drag the trolls back to their cave –
Oh Warrior Fairy, bold and brave!
Hurry now, do not delay!
Send the ogres far away.

Dawn has come, the sun will rise
I see the twinkle in your eyes
Warrior Fairy, job well done
All your enemies are gone

Tired and weary from the night
All you want is to sleep tight
No more war cries, no more bloodshed
Warrior Fairy… go to bed (nighty night!)

Oryx is on a roll! The ode reminds me so much of the testi he gave me when Friendster was still considered (errr….) cool.

The Oryx 10/12/2003 1:36 pm
Think of Ciarra Sotto, KC Concepcion with a hint of Angel Aquino, all wrapped in one. But with a twist! That’s probably the closest thing you’ll ever get to Iya. Teacher Iya was my teacher nung grade six pa ako (hahaha loko lang!). No, seriously, this chunk of starlight in human form is the best thing I got from my neighbor Raymond. For example: You know, last Saturday, at Pravda, I saw Lucky Concepcion. Baka Lucky Manzano? *Mejo sarcastic pa!* Ay, oo nga no! [Hahahaha that’s the reason why I feel like I’m intellectually challenged when I’m with her] O tama na ang drama. If I could compare Iya with three things [aside from Ciarra, KC and Angel] eto yun: Roller Coaster ride, Legal High, A Main Sequence Star. Ano yun???) What I mean is, regardless of how fleeting or how lasting your encounter with Iya is, the intensity remains. She’s a woman of impact (impact, not Impakta), full of charm and kahit na minsan, nakakahilo, okay pa din. She’s one ride you’ll always find worth the expense. Next! Legal High. Kahit na sabihin niya seryoso na yung topic, she always finds a way to keep things light kapag nakakadepress na. Ganyan si Iya. Better than XTC or Wari. Last na! Main
Sequence Star. O bakit? Like our sun, she gives warmth and light without the danger of radiating too much. Dahil perpetual yung kindess niya at may consistency siya, maasahan mo itong si Iya. Parang yung araw, palaging sumisikat. (Oist Iya! Pag sikat ka na don’t you ever forget me alright?)

Grabe. Oryx.

Come home na! Let’s do more crazy stuff! And you can make me bola some more!

I promise to bola you back! And probably make an ode for you as well! :p

That was the FB status of Oryx that spawned this string of comments:

I have imaginative, insane, amusing friends. And in my world, THEY.ARE.STELLAR.

I love you, Oryx! I love you, Joko!

BUT WAIT! Hindi bagay sa akin ang combat boots! Red stilettos na lang! Bet ko yang wings and gun na ‘yan!

Today is my birthday. And this is one helluva happy birthday! 🙂

I finally got the small, intimate celebration I’ve been wanting since I got sick and tired of organizing wasakan drinking sessions slash reuniting Christmas parties in the South every time I turn a year older. Time to move on from the place I used to call home and from some of the people who used to mean the world to me. It’s not sad, really. It just means I’m in a different place now and I have changed. 🙂 But what didn’t change is my favorite combo of friends + alcohol + food + dancing.

with besty Joanna aka my teenage bunny and besty Janice aka Tita Pussy…cat

besty Eunice aka Yo… put us together and we’re IyaiyaYowwww

Last night, I got together with Jap, Eunice, Joko, Kassy and Kwe for my birthday salubong in A.Venue Suites (Thanks, Joko’s Mommy! Biological Mommy, hehe!). We watched Stardust; ate chips, ambrosia, Yellow Cab pizza and pasta (4cheese and Corona, Charlie Chan) and caramel cake from Costa Brava (which is my 2nd favorite cake na, 1st pa rin ang rhumcake! :P); talked about the best and the worst of 2009; and of course, we camwhored. And we laughed. We laughed a lot. The bunny ears, Kwe being mistaken for a whore (I have morals, 1M a night!), the butas cardi of Jap and how to hide it in really weird ways, Joko’s kwento about seeing her crushie the other day (and the difference of reactions pag friends vs crush), Yo’s baking adventures (whipped cream fail) and Kassy’s pigletness (kirengkeng!!! congrats!).

Ten-sec countdown before my birthday… and *wooooooooo* I blew my 28th candle. My wish? I’d tell you if it happens already. I got a feeling it’s going to happen soon enough. Like sana, mamaya. 🙂 Haha, speak of, by 12:05 it was VIBES time, made me miss Carla a lot! LLB, if you’re reading this, I hope next year, the whole Panda family will be present in my birthday :p Or kahit ‘wag na kayo ni Mike, kahit si Caily lang hehe.

chocolate mousse c/o Jap & Yo

Yum yum chocolate mousse + lemon vodka + Gilbey’s premium (my local poison of choice).
Rich dropped by (sana kasama rin si Maia), so my celeb was 95% estrogen lang. Hahaha. If Donnie and Joel were there, baka 93% lang. 😉

We went to Tabu for a couple of hours because I wanted to dance and I wanted to be in my comfort/partyzone. Plus, I really miss Oryx. Much love to the dj who played almost all the songs I asked for. More alcohol! Yaaaaaayyy!

Tabu with ze ladies (Oryx, I miss you!!!)

with DJ Mark Nicosia

Back to the condo for rest, food, alcohol and Mia (who gave me a bottle of Patron). More food, more booze and more pictures.

By 5ish, Mia went home, Kwe went to Quezon to surf, Joko went to sleep and Kas and I stayed at the balcony and flashed Makati looked at Makati and talked about the heavy stuff. Life and Love. It didn’t bring me down because I still got ze birthday buzz. :p

with Miaboo

ahhhm… do I have another bunny daughter?

Slept around 6ish, got up around 11. Joko and Kas dropped me off and I slept again until around 2 hours ago. Kinda like a regular night out, but it’s my special day and I’m happier. 🙂

For someone who doesn’t like pepper much…

I surely love Pepper Lunch!

Just read in chuvaness that the Greenbelt 5 branch is already open. Yaaaaay! Closer to the office! I can’t wait to get my hands on the salmon-chicken  combo. Not literally, mainit eh! Hot hot goodness! I want to try the Molten Milk Chocolate Cake and the Matcha Cheesecake. Hehe. 🙂

Let’s go to Pepper GB5!

Echo, WRU?

I love my friends and I support them in their endeavours. Most of the friends I am frequently with are surfers, and so I go with them to surfspots and attend surf activities (with all my poser terms and moves) every chance I get. Last night, however, I shamelessly admit, I went to Handlebar not primarily to cheer for Ejay, Lor and Jef for winning in the recently concluded Zambapalooza. I attended the MSA party in the hopes that I will see Jericho Rosales.

So sue me. Eh sa gusto ko magpapicture with him eh.

Anyhoodles, Echo-frustration and babyscare aside, I enjoyed the night! Yaaay for my superlarge bacon and egg sandwich and salad and fries! Double Yaaay for the music of Tempestous Jones. Triple Yaaay for seeing a longlost college friend, Sharon Sager! And loads of love to Joko, Kwe, Kas, Ejay, Mio, James, Lor, Paolo, Jef and Nicole!

Go Greek!

After an exhausting Christmas shopping last Tuesday night, I decided to Go Greek!

Go Greek is a new addition to Glorietta’s Food Choices. It was recommended by one of my colleagues when we had a convo about my love for Cyma.

click image to enlarge and view their menu

lamb kebab + side salad + potatoes + sauces

I can see myself going back to Go Greek to try their other dishes (like the classic moussaka and seafood kebab) and for the garlic-yogurt and tomato based sauces. The kebab was so-so flavorwise, my teeth had a difficult time chewing the meat. The salad was fresh and the dressing was good with it, though I found it a little too sweet. The potatoes were good, almost like Cyma’s. 🙂

I can see myself going back there if I want a quick Greek fix and while my wallet still has not recevered from holiday shopping.
