If Not Now, When?

YESTERDAY!

July 28 was Incubus Day!

This was their set list for the If Not Now, When? concert at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum:

1. Megalomaniac
2. Wish You Were Here
3. Consequence
4. Pardon Me
5.Anna Molly
6. Love Hurts
7. Circles
8. Look Alive
9. Promises, Promises
10. The Warmth
11. Drive
12. Sick Sad Little World
13. Isadore
14. Glass
15. Talk Shows on Mute
16. Adolescents
17. A Crow Left of the Murder

Encore:
18. I Miss You
19. In the Company of Wolves
20. Nice To Know You

That’s right, bitch! Twenty songs! I’m so glad I went to their 3rd concert! It was my first time to hear Incubus live so I couldn’t relate to my friends who said that the 2nd one was better. :p

Franco was their opening act and they were good. I just had trouble paying attention to them because I was too excited for Incubus to start.

I expected they wouldn’t play a lot of their old hits, but I was wrong. I’ve never been so happy for not being right! I even had my phone ready with internet. I bookmarked a site with Incubus lyrics because I wanted to sing along to even their unpopular songs. I know! Pathetic, pero walang basagan ng trip! Hahaha!

I sang my heart out to Anna Molly (my favorite Incubus song) and Wish You Were Here (nakaka-relate kasi ako, heehee). I was at my happiest when they played Promises, Promises. It’s from their latest album, If Not Now, When? Odd that they did not play that track and opted to do In The Comapny of Wolves and Isadore. Another odd thing was Brandon Boyd did not take his shirt off. Sayang!

Anywaaaaay, it was an epic concert and I hope Incubus will consider going back to Manila for the 4th time.

I also hope on their 4th, Brandon Boyd takes off his shirt or go all the way! :p

Leave him…

and men will come.

That’s probably the best thing I heard last weekend. The weekend that capped Joko’s loooooong birthday celebration. It was an epic weekend. Epic in various aspects. Hahaha! I wish I could make kwento about it but I couldn’t. Baka masira ang dangal ng 3 bunnies at isang piglet! Bwahahahahaha! At ng isang panda at ng isang beagle! Let’s just say I am in debt to Taboo, Tanduay Ice, fate, and to my awesome awesome friends.

🙂

This photo was taken 3 or 4 hours before Kwe said the first line of this entry. And fyi, she didn’t even say it to me. Odd how I was the one who made use of the line the following day.

LOL

Happy birthday, stoked bunny!

Today is my besty‘s special day.

Today is the day na magka-age na kami. Twenty-three! Mwahahahaha!

Our quiznight team gave her a pre-birthday surprise last Tuesday. Shani bought cake from Claudette’s. Bloo got balloons, a banner and a card (that we found hard to write on kasi musical hehehe). Jeeves, Vlad, Rudi, Maj, Marie and Aji coordinated with the Murphy’s staff and decorated the PG corner. It was my task to get her away from the preparations by bringing her outside Murphy’s and ranting about how my health’s affected by my douchebag ex. Effective, naniwala naman! If I’m scared daw to go see the neurologist, sasamahan daw niya ako! When Rudi and Marie called to say we can go in already, I told her, “Ah ewan. Basta bahala na if I talk to him, basta….. happy birthday nga pala!”

Chedeng! Turon!

The whole bar broke into song. We even got the quizmaster to bring her the cake. I looked at Joko anbd she absolutely stoked! :p

I made a special quiz for her called THE Joko Magalong quiz– 10 items of Joko trivia related to general knowledge questions. Sample trivia: Joko’s queen is Britney Spears. Question, her name is an anagram of what religious group? Answer: Presbyterians. :p There were also questions about Cueshe and about bunnies being crepuscular.

Haha! Fun times!

We’re happy that she loved the suprise.

(superyummy cake!!!!)

We love our resident artistic and cultural latina! :p

For her birthday salubong, we went to Som’s and Chihuahua.

Bagay na bagay lang sa Asian-Latina birthday girl! Hihihi!

Pictures to be posted soon. 🙂

Harry Potter’s Reel Grand Finale

(Warning: contains spoilers)

Farewell to the most important series of our generation. I witnessed the last installment of the masterpiece storytelling last Friday along with other of Pot(ter)heads. I couldn’t even munch on my potato chips because Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was just so engaging! I believe the rest of the theatre was as absorbed as I was because there were only a few times when I wanted to kick people for their unsolicited side comments.

I will always be a bigger fan of the books than the films, but the HP films did not disappoint me even once.  Well, okay, once. Awful choice of Ginny, I must say. Blargh! Moving on, the final installment was suberbly crafted as a classic capper. There’s perfection in the dialogue, acting, musical scoring, and effects. A magical wave of the wand for everyone, especially to Director David Yates for making sure that the beloved classic gets an epic supernatural conclusion.

Here are the scenes that I loves the most:

1. When Professor MacGonagall cast a spell on the statues of Hogwarts and said “I always wanted to use that spell.” I liked this not only because it’s a kickass line, but because I remembered her role as Reverend Mother in my other all-time favorite, Sister Act.

from prayers to spells

2. When Ron and Hermione kissed. Kilig to the maximum level!!! I bet even the boys got kilig when our fave HP couple shared a kiss. The antithesis to this is the Harry-Ginny kiss. Blech. I really don’t like the onscreen Ginny.

3. When Neville slayed Nagini. From getting additional 10 points for Gryffindor (HP1) to destroying a Horcrux! The chubby awkward character has become a brave hottie cutie!

FUCK YEAH, MATTHEW DAVID LEWIS!!!

4. When Harry looked at Snape’s memories through the Pensive. I bawled. Like when Dobby died. Waaaaah! I’ve always liked Snape! I’ve always thought that he’s a good guy! When he was asked if his patronus is a doe (like Lily’s) and he said ALWAYS… Waaaaahhh! Total cheeseball moment for me! *sigh* This part was done in absolute perfection.

5. And of course, the Epilogue. Arthur Cohen as Albus Severus was too adorable. :”) What if this isn’t really the end of the HP franchise and a couple of years from now, Albus Severus, James Sirius, and Lily Luna together with the Granger-Weasley kids- Rose and Hugo have magical adventures of their own? Unlikely, but not impossible. 🙂

Cute cute cuuuute!!!!!

I, of course, recommend that you watch this because a dementor will suck the soul out of your pathetic being if you don’t. If you’ve already seen it, well, watch again. I know I will!

I LOVE YOU, HARRY POTTER. I LOVE YOU AS MUCH AS I LOVE BATMAN. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THAT’S A LOT.

I learned that in sex, once you do something…

YOU HAVE TO KEEP ON DOING IT.

~ from the story of Gingy (Love, Loss, and What I Wore)

—–

As I was trying to beat the clock in order to catch the critically acclaimed Love, Loss, and What I Wore, I was not able to fish for a cute ensemble to wear to the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium. I just chose my default outfit for moments like these– jetblack pants I got from Divi, a GH-bought white sleeveless top with turquoise flowers that showed off my (really) nice shoulders, and white/gold sandals purchased from BF’s Good Shepherd Bazaar. My inexpensive get-up never fails to make me feel good no matter what situation I am in. I didn’t get to show off my shoulders though because it was cold and I had to put on my charcoal black Julia cardigan.

Fine. I made an effort to describe what I wore because that’s what the play was all about. :p Love, Loss and What I Wore is about women talking about their clothes and the experiences they remember while they were in those clothes– lives told in style and with style. It was a pretty girly production that can entertain both women and men. My seatmates were mostly males and I think they even laughed more than I did. However, I have no idea if those men also got to take in the poignant moments of the stories delivered.

The show most certainly made me laugh, feel butterflies, remember things I didn’t want to remember, hope, and get a bit teary-eyed.

You can catch Love, Loss and What I Wore by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron from July 14 to 17, with shows at 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, 4F RCBC Plaza, Ayala Ave. corner Gil Puyat Ave., Makati City.

The show features Associate Artistic Director of Repertory Philippines Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, veteran theater actress, writer, and emerging director Cathy Azanza-Dy, TV host, model, performer, and creative visionary Teresa Herrera, thespian and music industry sensation Bituin Escalante, and acclaimed classical vocalist, theater performer, and executive director for Music Artes Philippines, Jay Valencia-Glorioso.

Yoda Bear

One of the things I love Acey is his sidesplitting sense of humor.

Like today, I showed him this photo from my Google+ stream.

(photo from Jori)

Me: Look Acey o! Ang cuuute!
Ace: Ano ‘yan?
Me: Ano ba! Aso! Aso na naka-Yoda costume!
Ace: Sino si Yoda?
Me: WHAT???!?!?!??? HINDI MO KILALA SI YODA?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Ace: Bear ba siya?
Me: Whaaaaa…?
Ace: Si Yoda Bear!
Me: Acey naman e!!!
Ace: Si Yoda Bear, ‘yung may kasamang maliit na bata.
Me: Ha? Bata? Si Boo-Boo?
Ace: Batang bear!

*facepalm*

Om Nom Chewy Junior Nom Nom

My megafantasticwonderfulawesome boss Ace (yep, I superlove my boss :P) went to Trinoma to meet with the management for the re-activation of our recruitment hub, Career Cafe 2 Go. When he got back to the office, he brought us these extraordinary creampuffs—

Hello, Chewy Junior Chocolate Almond Crunch, Chocolate Madness, and Almond Sweetheart creampuffs! My tummy’s happy to see you!

only 109php for a box of 3!

image from http://www.chewyjunior.com.ph/menu.html

I had the Almond Sweetheart I ate and I absolutely loved it! Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside! I got that statement from their website, but so what? It’s really like that in real life! Hehe! It’s the perfect sweet pastry for someone like me who’s not fond of uber sweet stuff. ‘Yung bang tipong isang kagat pa lang, feeling mo magkaka-diabetes ka na! I give a perfect 10 for the sweetness of Chewy Junior’s creampuff. If I wouldn’t look PG (patay-gutom), I would have snagged the Chocolate Madness too!

Careful, though. There’s really lots of cream inside. There’s a technique in eating the goodie, so I suggest you read the instructions on the box before sinking your teeth into this delightful treat. I learned it the hard way. Sobrang messy ng pagkain ko nung cream puff. As in ang dungis ko lang talaga. Hehe. :p Like a little kid enjoying her afternoon snack!

Chewy Junior is at the 2nd level of Trinoma. Also, come August 1, you can visit the Eperformax Career Cafe 2 Go booth at the 3rd floor near Restoration. 🙂

My Mighty Wallet!

I am not ashamed to say that my favorite thing from attending events is getting freebies.

The goodie bag from Globe had this…

A Mighty Mouse Mighty Wallet! The Mighty Wallet® is tear-resistant, water-resistant, expandable and recyclable. Made from Tyvek®. This wallet resists tearing because of thousands of interlocking plastic fibers spun in random patterns, giving it incredible strength. See? It’s really mighty, mighty!

It was actually in my friend’s loot bag. The one in mine was a USS Enterprise wallet. When I saw it, I was like, “Uh… What the hell is this?” I asked my friend if he wants to trade his Mighty Mouse wallet with me and he readily said yes. apparently, the one I got is a Star Trek wallet. Sorry! I’m not familiar with intergalactic geekery. :p I’m not a fan of Mighty Mouse but I did watch the cartoons when I was still a little Iya. :p

I love my Mighty Wallet. It’s slim, just 1/8 of an inch I guess. It’s also lightweight but it can carry a hundred bills! hindi ko pa na-try pero sabi! Hehe! Kaso lang, nakaka-babae ang design! Daga na macho! Well, I’m planning to get this…

Cool beans, right? :p

I hope Quirks in Powerplant still sells these mighty money-keepers!
