Paranaque Weekend

I had a really happy weekend in Paranaque with my longtime friends. I had more fun than I expected. 😀

Saturday afternoon, I went to Bricktown (near Merville) to visit my inaanak Marcus. My besty Jap also joined us. We talked about sharks, dinosaurs, Sleepy Hollow and getting good grades in school. I’m proud of my inaanak. Makus is growing up to be very smart, sweet and goodlooking. Manang-mana sa Ninang! ❤

image

And aside from those positive qualities, he’s also artistic! Here’s a picture of him drawing the Phantom of the Opera for me and Jap. Fine, kay Jap na siya mana sa pagiging artistic! :p

image

And kids say the darnest things, right? I can’t remember what our topic was when Makus said, “I care about love more than myself. I want them to be happy.” Wow, wow lang di’ba? 🙂

image

Another wow was the food Ate Myla cooked for dinner. 😀 Binagoongang baboy, steamed kangkong and okra, ginisang munggo and pritong bangus belly. Sarap sarap sarap! I do hope that Makus also got his mom’s talent in cooking! 🙂

image

Saturday night, Jap and I went to BF to see some of our college buddies Donnie, Colleen, Dave and Jim. Too bad Chie fell asleep and didn’t get to join us. :p Anyway, it’s always great to be with my college core group. 🙂

image

I missed being with my (straight) boybuds. And that’s even if for them all other boys are fags, pussies or wants to forcefully finger someone. LOL I can’t wait for Joel to vacay here in Manila so we can have another reunion! So that should be late March or early April! Yeaaahhh!

image

Another thing I liked about being with the gang was I got to drink and eat a lot without paying anything. Hahaha. Love you boys! Nakakatuwa na galante na kayo ngayon. Kuripot kayo nung college eh! Mwehehehe! :p We drank in this new bar called Recovery (in front of NLos) and drank some more in my fave bar Tavern Asia and had coffee and shawarma at Behrouz in Santana Grove.

image

Slept at Jap’s and when we woke up, Tita Marilyn cooked us lunch! Hotdogs, fried chicken and nilagang buto-buto! 😀 After lunch, Jap and I had coffee (for her) and tea (for me) in their backyard and just talked about stuff. And God knows how much I enjoy talking to my friends about stuff.

image

And by stuff, I mean all sorts of things. You know how girls are in conversations. We are very talented in jumping from one topic to another. :p before I went back to Makati, we went to Bon Heure and met up with another good friend of ours, Cindy. Of course, to talk about more stuff! Hahaha!

I hope your weekend was as fun as mine! 😉

Mama’s 60th Birthday

My wonderful mother celebrated her 60th birthday yesterday. 🙂 Thank You God for blessing me with an angel for a mommy. She is the most beautiful, kindest, most prayerful woman I know. I love her so much. 🙂

image
(pic taken when I was 1 1/2 years old and Mama was 31)

I don’t have any party pics to show because she opted not to have a grand celebration. My original plan was to throw a party for her at my uncle’s beach resort. Ayaw daw niya. Gusto daw niya simple lang. ‘Wag daw kaming makialam. Siya daw ang may birthday so siya ang masusunod. Ma’am, yes ma’am! I thought we were going to Subic to eat lunch and watch a movie like what we do when it’s Daddy’s birthday but she said she just wanted to cook some of her favorite dishes and give them to our relatives and neighbors.

It was also a blessing that we didn’t go out anymore because I suffered from fever (with chills! scary! :S) from Saturday to Monday. I think God just took pity on me when I asked Him to make me well because I didn’t want my Mama to worry about me when she should be stress-free on her birthday.

We cooked and gave away food a day before her birthday. She didn’t want to do it on Feb 22 because it’s Ash Wednesday. Here are some of the food we made:

Chunky Chicken Macaroni Salad. The one you see in the picture is the sald before I mixed everything together. This is Mama’s specialty savory salad. Her dessert salad specialty is Chunky Buco Pandan. Yeah, we like our salads chunkee! Funny coz I was the one who taught her how to make these, but she does it much better than me. 😛

image

Maja con Quezo. This was supposed to be maja blanca topped with latik (fried coconut milk curd)  but we were to tired to make latik that we used cheese instead. Mama makes excellent maja. This has been a fave of mine since childhood. 🙂

image

Suman sa Lihiya. This is soaked glutinous rice treated with lye. Mama’s besty Tita Nida made this as a gift for Mama. Well, at least she attempted for it to be a surprise, pero fail kasi sa amin siya humingi ng banana leaves na pambalot. So, buking! :p I brought a dozen suman to the office with grated coconut and sugar. Was too lazy to get panocha. :p

image

Bibingkang Kanin. This was Mama’s birthday(rice)cake. Haha she detested my suggestion that we put candles on it. :p When I was still a little Iya, I’d scrape off the sweet sauce on top and give the rice cake to Mama. Haha, salbaheng anak ko lang talaga dati. :p This is my favorite kakanin after bibingkang malagkit aka bibingka that we usually see during Christmastime.

image

Pansit Bihon: Our quintessential birthday dish because they say it represents long life and because we just really love pansit. :p And even if I was suffering from toncilitis, Mama allowed me to drink Coke because it sucks to eat pansit without Coca-Cola. 😀 And reward ko kasi napagod ako sa kakahalo ng 3 kilo ng pansit!

image

I’m glad that Mama got what she wanted, a simple celebration spent with me and Daddy. She also got a pretty yellow blouse and fab clutch bag from me. :p I stayed home until early morning of her birthday. Haha, I demanded a picture before I left for Manila. Kebs na kung bagong gising at nakapantulog pa. Here it is:

That’s one of the best mornings of our lives. 🙂 Thank You God for giving us Mama! 🙂

Vday 2012: Happy Heart and Happy Tummy!

Besides getting my fill of amusement from reading Facebook Valentine’s status updates, which btw made me realized that I am not the most aggro person I know when heartbroken (haha thank God), I also had my fill of nomnoms from friends and industry partners. 🙂

Thse Krispy Kreme donuts with our company’s logo greeted me in the office on Valentine’s morning. Nope, we are not mutants. That’s not the X-men insignia. :p

image

Lunch was spent at Chicboy-Jupiter with my babe (the gallant pig) and our chaperones (Anna and Mommy Joyce hehehe). What is nagbaboy lang talaga kami sa lechon, extra rice at side dishes. Of course, I just got to have my fave combo of CB6 and sinigang na salmon! :))

image

We were invited by our friends from Papa John’s for dinner so Vincci, Rain, JP and I went there for another pizza and pasta feast! I really love Papa John’s Arrabiata. Totally compensated for me not liking their carbonara, which happens to be one of their bestsellers! :p My newest favorite now is their SUPER PAPA PIZZA. At least, kahit pizza, nagka-super papa ako ngayong Valentine’s. Wahahaha! Anyway, who do you think wioll be the best endorser of Papa John’s? We vote the gorgeous KC Concepcion. Hulaan kung bakit. 😉

image

For dessert, I met up with Joko, Marie and Vlad at Petra & Pilar. Cheesecake for them. Beer for me. :p Well, chicken barbecue for Vlad.

image

The following day, our friends from the Philippine Star held an exclusive dinner for us in Cabalen. good to know that their buffet has gotten better. Just don’t get the Japanese food. I love that there’s a fondue station and they’ve got really good lechon de leche. 😀

image

So those are the evidences that my tummy was really happy this Vday 2012. It follows that my heart’s also smiling. Afterall, no man is making it cry now. Nyahahaha!!! It’s taking its time and it’s excited for possibilities. Who knows? Maybe on 2013, I’ll have him with me for a Valentine’s foodtrip. Huwag lang niya ako aagawan ng pagkain. :))

Speaking of happy and food, i’ll be going home to Bataan tomorrow and will be staying there until mid next week for my Mom’s 60th birthday celebration. For sure, magmimistulang patabaing baboy na naman ako doon. :p

See you next week! Enjoy the weekend! Love more and eat more! 😉

Vday Shmayday

image

So it’s raining and I’m playing Whitney Houston (RIP) hits. Singing All at Once as I’m writing this. Tomorrow is heart’s day and though I am boyfriendless, I’m pretty psyched to celebrate it. :p Don’t mind this post’s title. I just couldn’t think of anything else. Haha!

I still don’t know where I’m going to celebrate Vday– after work of course. I said no to 2 invites because one is too far and I don’t want to deal with the holiday traffic and the other is… hmmm I always say better zero than negative… so there. Enough said. >:p But but but! Bahala na. I like surprises so… 😉

I’ve received pre-vday gifts, mostly food. And ubos na lahat. My EQ is really low. Haha, seriously, I think my EQ has improved significantly in the past few months. I have not been (too) aggro, emo and bitter. I owe this to God who has been showering me with lots of reminders that the past is over indeed and I should just learn from it, move on and patiently wait for the right moment and the right person. Kung si Justin Timberlake ito, hindi natin alam. Malay natin maagaw ko pa siya kay Jessica. Charot! 😀

Let me end this post by sharing one of my favorite quotes. I don’t know who said it though!

“The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.”

Advance Happy Valentine’s Day to all! May your day be filled with love and roses and chocolates and songs and laughter and all things that make you happy! 😉

I love flowers(cape)!

Still very busy with work that I haven’t had time to blog about food food food and other stuff. *teehee* Stress has been really off the charts but I have been getting by because blessings are also oh-so many! 🙂

Anyway… wow, it’s already February and one of the things I love about this month is… Valentine’s Day. Front ko lang talaga (dati) ang pagiging emo at aggro. Those who really know me can attest how much of a big sap I am when it comes to romance. :p

And when I think of romance, first that comes to mind is…

Those are the flowers I received on my 30th birthday. FYI, I love roses. White, pink, and yellow! I also like daisies! And tulips! And wildflowers! I don’t like red ones that much even if I love the color red. Oh well, just one of the weird things about me.

Almost two months have passed and the flowers are still pretty.

I still have them displayed at the corner of my room. :p

Send flowers to your loved ones this Valentine’s Day! My favorite flowershop (where my friend ordered these lovely roses) is FLOWERSCAPE. Flowerspace is located at 7561 Bagtikan Street San Antonio Village, Makati, Philippines. Contact Flowerscape with telephone number 028996178 .

Advance happy heart’s day, everyone! 😉
