Five Things About The Mistress

image{the cast of The Mistress}

1. Ayoko sanang panoorin ito kahit pa ang daming magagandang reviews kasi may cringe factor ‘yung age gap ni Bea Alonzo at Ronaldo Valdez. Ano ba.

I love her.

3. Ay, John Lloyd. *buntong hininga* Gustong-gusto ko ang karakter niya dito as JD/Eric. Straight forward, romantiko, well-dressed.

Sari: Ang kunwari ba pwedeng maging totoo?
JD: Kung gusto mo.
Sari: Natatakot akong maniwala.
JD: Release your fears, Sari.

HAHAHAHA

Floating Island: Serving Delicious “Hospital Food”

Put my medical card to good use and had my skull and blood checked*.

While the medtech was extracting 2 vials of blood from me, I was thinking of a hearty breakfast from Floating Island to block the pain. Wahahaha! Ang arte. Hindi naman masakit. Gusto ko lang talaga ng bonggang brekky! :p

image{Tower 2, MMC}

Floating Island is the only reason why I like going to Makati Med. I don’t recall ever eating anything from Floating Island that I didn’t like. It’s my first time to have breakfast there last Saturday though. I brought my high expectations with me. And take note, hindi porke gutom ako eh masarap na lahat.

I chose the All-American Breakfast– 2pcs American link sausages, 2 eggs (asked for a sunny side-up and scrambled) and hashbrown, 205php. Added toast with butter (25php) and an Almond Roca Lavazza Coffee (110php).

image{ang sarap nung sausages}

It was a filling and satisfying breakfast for someone like me who endured 12hours of fasting! I thought of adding bacon and getting pudding de leche but I had to prepare my tummy for a dinner at Circles in Shangri La. Watch out for my next post!

image{gutom na gutom na ako pero picture muna}

Floating Island has a bakeshop that sells Belgian Cookie Chips. Had this first at Don Merto’s in Cebu and it’s a joy to know that I can already get it here in Manila! Pure win!

Other must-try’s are their: beef salpicao, arroz caldo, pinasingaw na pla-pla, chicken and pork adobo, and extra thick milkshake!

Happy eating and stay healthy! 😀

* just in case you’re wondering, my xray and lab results are okay! I just have to stay away from fastfood!

Coffee & Cupcakes @ SLICE

Chocolate, yema, and cupcakes– these are a few of my favorite things. I’d like to thank my lucky stars and the food gods for Slice‘s Choco-Yema Cupcakes!

So a couple of weeks ago (haha, sorry late post), I went to BGC to satisfy my craving. It wasn’t hard to tag my friends along because… well… who in his right mind would say no to cupcakes? 😀

image
{Carlo and Argel in front of Slice, the cafe is right beside Jamba Juice}

And there must be coffee, of course!

image
{cappuccino served with granola}

I loved that their capuccino was served with granola. The coffee packed a punch. I actually regretted getting it because I had a hard time sleeping after. My fault. I shouldn’t drink coffee past 6pm. A must-have in the morning, me thinks. I’m not sure how early Slice opens though.

image
{Carlo with the cuppycakes!!!}

The cupcakes were smaller than I expected but I’d rather have quality than quantity any day. In that case, the cuppycakes did not disappoint! Masarap nga! Even Carlo (our very maselan/choosy friend na ayaw magpa-picture) liked it!

If  Argel says something is “masarap” for at least 5x, it means it’s REALLY good. Heard him say the Choco-Yema Cupcake was delish 4x. He said I just didn’t hear the 5th time because I was away, smoking. There’s no smoking area in Slice. I’m sure Sen. Pia Cayetano wouldn’t approve. #1 She bats for non-smoking in public places.#2 She owns Slice. 🙂

image{Argel and I ready to judge the Choco Yema cupcake}

Okay. Choco-Yema Cupcake. A.Wow… B.Yum… C.Wow,yum!!! If I grew up with these around, I would’ve been a fat kid. I practice displine now, so I’ll have it just every time I’m in High Street! :p  I feel it would be a crime against myself if I don’t eat it if  I’m just in the area.

Mmmmm… moist cake… luscious frosting… And it’s just (if I remember it correctly) 70php a pop! Not bad for a cupcake in High Street, yes?

{choco yema cupcake and rocky road & s’mores cupcake}

If there was a beauty contest for cupcakes, Slice’s Red Velvet will not be my bet. BUT this humble looking thing is probably the yummiest red velvet cupcake I’ve ever had. This is considering I don’t like my dessert too sweet and I love my frosting thick.

image
{honest to goodness red velvet}

The S’mores Cupcake was good but nothing to write home about. Liked the chocolate base but wasn’t delighted with the toppings. Now maybe if it had more melted mallows… Haha! Anyway, I’ll try the Citrus Burst next time.

For a resto that has been around for less than a year, Slice’s menu has a lot to offer. Friends say that I should go back for their Brown Arroz Caldo, Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich and Seafood Puttanesca. I’m definitely trying those and also getting their other desserts!

And of course, getting more Choco-Yema Cupakes! Ahahay! I have to remember to eat with caution!

God’s Letters to His Princess

Who’s His princess?

ME!

Or YOU! 🙂

It’s for all of us ladies who are waiting for the right person. Some of us patiently wait. Some of us wait with hope so thin or with anger churning. Sadly, some do not even wait anymore for they have lost faith.

I was one of those princesses who was on the verge of screaming AYOKO NA!!! to God’s face. Kapal ko noh? It was because I didn’t understand. It was because my will was stronger than HIS. To all those who know me and my story, then you know the pain, disappointment, frustration and even depression that I went through. Most of them self imposed. Because like I said, my will was stronger than God’s. It’s only lately that I have come to realize how much He loves me and how it is imperative that I first learn to listen and obey. And that I should really be patient and discerning! Maaaaan… I learned this the hard way and up to now, there are still tests thrown my way. I feel that He is indeed checking if I have already changed and if I am ready for His gift aka answered prayer aka fulfilled promise.

Jan, a close friend of mine (one of God’s many perfectly timed gifts to me) shared these letters when I was undergoing another (and quite recent) ANO NA NAMAN BA ITO?! phase in my life.

Read on and I hope your heart will also be touched.

Nakaka-kilig, di’ba? I don’t know about you, basta ako kinilig ako ng bongga that God is preparing the best person for me.

It’s a drag to wait, I know. But if you know in your heart that what you are waiting for is the best, then it will make things lighter. Wait with joy. Use the time to focus on other aspects in your life. Love your family, your friends, your neighbor, your enemies (oo, pati sila!!! working on it!!!) and of course… LOVE GOD! Love our DaddyGod, our Heavenly Father. Time flies when you’re having fun, right? Right!

(Maybe you’ve already noticed, I started with me and shifted on YOU! My plan, exactly! Hehe!)

In times that you feel sad, tell Him. Kahit sa mga panahon na galit ka, o nagdududa, talk to Him! Coz seriously, sino pa ba ang makikinig sa iyo without judgment and with absolute understanding? You’re His baby. Magsumbong ka sa Kanya and He will surely protect you with all His might.

I would like to end this entry with a line from author/preacher Max Lucado–

“A woman’s heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her.”

My fellow princess, wait on Him. =)
