MANG LARRY.

FAMOUS ISAWAN AT UP CAMPUS QC pa ‘yan! O ha?! O ha?!

😀

Victorious

I initially wanted to make a loooong testimonial about inarguably the best experience I’ve had since the summer of 2001 (when I attended Life in the Spirit Seminar or LSS), but something (or Someone) is telling me to just keep this post short and sweet, so here it goes…

I am happy to be back in God’s shining presence. I’ve been wanting to go back since late 2009, but I spent too much time on work, friends and family. The universe had to hit my head with a sledgehammer a couple of weeks ago just to let me experience a deep sorrow to lead me to open my 2001-2003 diaries a.k.a. my prayer journals. I couldn’t believe that I forgot how beautiful my relationship with God back then. No wonder my life was close to perfect that time, I was blessed by God so much. I said yes to the voice in my head and committed to attend a Victory worship service.

My cousin Mafi and her boyfriend Jeric brought me to Victory’s center in Pioneer. The service that day was about Standing Strong— about remembering our covenant with God, being bold in asking God for the impossible and by having an unwavering faith that God will make things happen. The Word of God preached by Pastor Robert was the answer to my prayers. The Word of God sounds so universal yet tailor-fit. Ang galing talaga ni God. His Word is for everyone but uniquely touches the hearts of each and every one of us.

Amazing, from a single service, God already equipped me more courage to face my challenges. I have never been patient until now- now that God gives me the assurance that He is faithful and that He will grant a good heart’s desires.

I felt the need to go back and I did yesterday. The service yesterday was about Staying Strong— about finishing the fight and knowing that God fights for us. We should all be careful in loving God as life is a battle for love. I guess the most important thing I learned from yesterday’s service was to be as faithful as God- to keep on loving Him in the good and in the bad of times. No reason to not do it as He is consistent in being with us in every part of our journey.

I am grateful for being given a chance to go back to Him. I pray that I will never ever lose this fire again. And I know that God will not fail me on this.

Here’s a picture of me with Pastor Robert Hern Jr. :

I thank God for using Pastor Robert as an instrument to promote His Word.

You can join us in experiencing the awesomeness of God through Victory every Sunday 5pm and 7pm at the 3L of Robinson’s Pioneer. 🙂 For more info please visit http://victorypioneer.org

Busy-busyhan, Bahala na si Batman

Time out lang mga kids.

Busy-busyhan portion lang muna. Got lots of events happening and it’s almost job hunting season. Magpapaka-work-alcoholic-workaholic muna ako. :p Will prolly post, but not meaty entries. Haha, as if I’ve been posting such. My blog already looks like an extension of my FB and Twitter accounts and it will continue to do so until maybe March.

Anywayyyy… just want to say I am excited to watch The Dark Knight Rises!

Image Credit: Landmark/PR Photos; Solarpix/PR Photos

Inception star, Tom Hardy will play the villain, Bane. Oo, si Bane. Sino siya? Ewan ko rin. I only know Penguin, TwoFace and Riddler. According to the comics, he’s one of Batman’s most intelligent and physically powerful foes. He is best known for breaking Batman’s back in the “Knightfall” story arc. Kunyari na lang, nabasa ko na.

Here he is…

Oh well, Anne Hathaway on the other hand will play Selina Kyle- Catwoman’s alter-ego. Don’t know if she’ll put on the er suit in the movie or in its next installment. I know there are a lot of disappointed guys out there who’re pro-Marion Cotillard for the role. Ugh. I’m also disappointed actually because I’m a guy because I liked Marion in Inception.

Batman!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

PNoy’s Porsche and Doll

So our president bought a Porsche.

image from www.abs-cbnnews.com

I’ve read so many negative comments in Twitter and in FB about this, like it’s an insensitive gesture getting this in the middle of the transpo hike or that he he bought this swanky ride for his DOM checklist. May nagsabi pa na “A Porsche, it’s a little too cramped inside to get laid. But you’ll get laid, the moment you step out.”

Weh??? I mean… come on people… What the hell is your problem? It’s a 3rd hand Porsche for crying out loud. He used his personal funds to get it. I don’t know about the truth behind the two, but I still won’t care if they’re just lies.

I am still not pro-Noy, but I think that some reactions are pathetic bordering on asinine. Maka-react na lang. Tse. But ok, I gotta admit, that DOM bit was hilarious. Mwehehe.

Anyway, another Aquino-related kwento…

Our team gave away these Precious Moments collectibles as gifts last Christmas.

Say hello to the Cory Doll and the Pnoy Doll.

Ang cute-cute, noh?

Kaso lang, hindi nila at all kamukha.

Hehe.

Reel Love Teams for Real Leaf Green Tea

Thanks to the PR group of Coke-Real Leaf  for inviting me to the grand launch of their newest tea drink ambassadors. The banquet/ presscon was held at White Space last December 7. They made sure all of us enjoyed the 3 flavors of Real Leaf (Honey Lemon, Honey Apple and Honey Lychee… Lemon is my favorite!) with bibingka, puto bungbong, bijon guisado, barbecue and roasted chicken!

festive food + healthy drink

And more than the food, we all enjoyed meeting the 4 newest endorsers of Real Leaf Green Tea! 😀 It’s not everyday that stars fall down from the sky! Or travel to a presscon in Makati from ABS-CBN 2 and GMA 7. Hahaha! :p

model Bianca Valerio hosted the event

Congratulations to Real Leaf for getting 2 of the most celebrated love teams in pinoy showbiz—

Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion and Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera!

A Coke exec and the love teams signed giant Real Leaf bottles as symbol of their commitment to promoting its goodness. Real leaf has real honey, and did you know that it helps boost immunity? It’s also made of real green tea that has Theanine which helps improves mood and reduces physical and mental stress.

I discovered those fantastic facts from Real Leaf’s interactive corner.

The 4 answered the questions of the press with full enthusiasm. Epekto malamang ng Theanine!

PHOTO OPP! PHOTO OPP!

My height is 5’6″ but I looked like a smurf next to the tall and dashing Papa P and the gorgeous KC Concepcion in skyhigh heels.

And, I looked like a negrita next to Marian. :p

For those who are curious who among them was the nicest in person, hands down, it’s KC Concepcion. She’s sweet and accomodating. I wanted to have my picture taken with her (so I can show my parents and pamangkins) and one of the p.a.’s said no more na daw. KC told the p.a. that we still haven’t had our picture taken. O di’ba? 🙂

Marian was the most energetic when it came to answering  the press. 😀

RPG: Metanoia– Another Philippines’ First

My jaw hit the floor in sheer amazement upon seeing the first 5 minutes of the Philippines’ 1st 3D animated film.

Ok, that’s an exaggeration. It was more of… my eyes widened like saucers and I slow clapped. I believe in the Filipino creativity, but I did not expect that RPG: Metanoia could give me a strong sense of Filipino pride. If I didn’t know that it’s from Star Cinema, Ambient Media and Thaumatrope Animation, I would have thought that it’s from Disney and Pixar! And that is NOT an exaggeration!

From the sneak preview and the trailer, I am sure that the audience will delight and revel in this epic story of a young boy and his friends who face an adventure of a lifetime when an unknown evildoer tries to take over the virtual world and the world outside the massively multiplayer online role-playing game!

It was only in the grand presscon at Shangri La Atrium last Sunday when I learned that the cast is comprised of exceptionally talented actors.

The angelic Zaijian answering questions about his character, Nico

Zaijian Jaranilla, who played Santino in probably the biggest teleserye of 2009, May Bukas Pa voiced Nico, the young main character. His parents? No less than the country’s top dramatic actor (and, I quote Ace who also quoted Cristy Fermin… lol, “Ang Lalakeng Walang Angulo”), Aga Muhlach and comedy superstar, Eugene Domingo. Playing his friends are childstars Jairus Aquino, Aaron Junatas, Basti Alcances and Mika Dela Cruz. Funnyman, Vhong Navarro also lent his voice to the online gaming shop. I’d like to know who voiced the villain. Anyone, care to tell me who? Si Kuya ba ng Pinoy Big Brother? LOL

Host, Andrei Felix interviewing the Aaron (voiced one of Nico’s friends), beside them are Jairus, Basty, Zaijian, Mika and Direk Louie

with Direk Louie

Director Louie Suarez and his team believes that the Filipino audience is ready for a movie like RPG: Metanoia. I also believe this, Direk! 😀

With Ambient Media executives Robert Chien and Charles Rapaport

I like what Mr. Rapaport said, “There is no reason why we should not show the world our film because the world sends its films to us.” Mr. Rapaport, I’m sure on December 25, RPG: Metanoia will send a message to the whole world that Filipinos ARE NOT ONLY talented in the fields of boxing and singing. 🙂

With the suuuuppppercuuuute Aaron! Hehe!

The kids are so excited about the film. They all play online games and it’s a treat for them to dub characters that are like them in real life. 😀

With Zaijian… My Daddy is absolutely going to love this picture!

Words of wisdom from Zaijian’s character in RPG Metanoia, “Kung isang bagay na lang ang kaya mong gawi, eh di gagalingan mo na.” Oo nga naman!

RPG: Metanoia merchandise I won from the raffle and Moose Gear giveaways

RPG: Metanoia yoyos and toys are now available at all Toy Kingdom, Toys R Us and other leading toy stores nationwide! The yoyo (Nico’s weapon in the film) and boxing gloves are awesome! 🙂

I gave the big bag of RPG: Metanoia goodies to my friend/colleague’s adorable son, Ken-Ken. Note that the post script says “Nood kayo ng Metanoia ha!”

AND YOU SHOULD  TOO! 🙂

RPG: METANOIA is an official entry to the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival. For more info about the movie, visit www.therpgmovie.com

DAGIM is the first horror movie I’ll watch (without being forced).

I like rainbows and cuppycakes and my film genre of choice will always be (romantic) comedy. You’d hate to watch a horror movie with me as I’d most likely scream  in your ear and pound your arm in each scary scene– like what happened when I watched The Ring with my friends. And it wasn’t even the Japanese version. Pathetic, I know. Heh.

It wasn’t until I saw a link of Project Raincloud’s Facebook page that I had a tad interest in the morbid, macabre movies. My initial reaction was, “Project Raincloud? Ano ‘to? Cloud seeding project ng PAGASA?” I clicked on the link and the profile picture confused me. “Isn’t that Marc Abaya?” It compelled me to read the entire profile and even googled some info on what the project’s all about.

Raincloud is Dagim in archaic Filipino. AND Dagim is a Filipino horror film directed by Joaquin Pedro Valdes, starring Marc Abaya, Martin del Rosario, Rita Iringan and Samuel Quintana. The film is one of seven finalists in the Cinema One Originals for 2010. Thank you, Wikipedia for the info.

More from Wikipedia:

PLOT: The brothers, Jun (Martin del Rosario) and Diego (Samuel Quintana) embark on a quest to find their father (Bembol Roco). Their journey leads them to a mountain town where they meet the beautiful Lila (Rita Iringan) and  her brother, the charismatic Pido (Marc Abaya). Pido is a gracious host, introducing the brothers to the ways of the tribe, where members live a simple existence of brotherhood and equality, far from the corruption and greed that rule “civilization”. Jun is enamored by the possibility of living in Panimdim, little suspecting that the tribesmen’s pacifistic exteriors belie a terrible secret.

And you gotta find out this terrible secret.

I tried to uncover the secret of Dagim last Friday, Oct 29. Where? At the Archaelogy Wing of The Powerplant Mall for the Art of Dagim Exhibit. yes, it was just in time for Halloween. (Thanks to Orange Magazine TV for the invite!)

That’s me with my (pa-cute) scared look. I can’t act for shi*.

Movie Stills

Samut-saring Monsters

The Spooky tree surrounded by equally spooky photos.

Food by PINO: fish tartar, bacon-wrapped betamax, bread with longganisa and potato fries and brownies with gummy worms. They also served a spiked fruit punch with eyeballs. (Too bad I have no picture of it and no picture of my face when I saw the eyeball at the bottom of my cup.)

I got to chat with some of the actors and their excitement about the movie was so thick I could have sliced it with a steak knife. They told me stories of their week long stay in Bagac, Bataan- where the movie was shot, and how they became fast friends. Easy to believe them as I felt like I was talking to a wacky barkada rather than a group of uptight actors.

I didn’t want to ask them the who-what-when-where-how of the movie because the answers are easily found online, so I asked them 2 questions, somehow related to the movie.

Their answers to Question #1 What are the things that scare you in real life?

Cockroach (lalo na yung lumilipad)
Emptiness (woowww, emo!)
Authority (uy, serious)
Darkness (kasi maraming cockroach pag madilim)
and

And Question #2, if  held at gunpoint and you had to choose one thing, would you eat 1 tablespoon of human flesh or half a cockroach?

Only one of them answered the former, but turned blue in digust when I clarified it’s raw human flesh. LOL.

The amazing cast and crew of Dagim

Evil Marc, not-so-evil Marc and the Eunice (Thank you Ms. Vallesteros for letting me use your photos! You’re the best! Mwga!)

Lila and Jun – Rita and Martin

My newest baby sister– the extraordinary, sweet (and dangerous) Rita!

With Direk Joaqui aka Tony Stark hehehe

So there. I think I already gave you enough clues as to what the terrible secret is. 🙂

I’m still for cuppycakes, rainbows and romatic comedies but I definitely will man up and see Dagim next week. Can you please, please, please watch it with me? I’d probably scream in your ear and hit your arm like crazy but I promise to give you a giant tub of popcorn.

Work and Play: The Channel V Trade Show Party

Vincci, Ace, Rain and I went to Encore last night for Channel V’s trade show. We partnered with them last summer in the Jabbawockeez/Kris Allen/Boyce Avenue concert and fingers crossed, we’ll work with them again soon!

Yipeee for the buffet even if I think I had too much lechon and sweets. :p Double yipee (yipee yipee mwehehe) for the open bar!

Shots, shots, shots, shots in different colors!

Beautiful ladies of General Luna and SEXY boys of Kamikaze took on the stage before [V]ideoke. Saw my friend Nicole (vocalist of General Luna) for the first time outside Handlebar and surf events. :p

Channel V’s topman JM was there of course. Too bad Joms couldn’t make it. Damn meetings. Busy-busyhan.

Veejays, Cliff, Megan, Georgina and Alvey were there too. I don’t know were Solenn was.

I don’t know who’s prettier. Georgina or Rain. Why don’t we ask Borgy? :p

This picture is dedicated to my cousin, Mafi, who’s in love with Alvey. Or so she thinks.

Cliff and Vincci were supposed to sing Little Mermaid’s Part of Your World, but didn’t get to anymore due to our Cinderella curfew. Kainis. We could have taken home (by home, I mean office) the cash prize!

Here’s what we took home though…

photo souvenirs…

a [V] swag bag with an Audio-technica headset aaaannnnd raffle prizes! Vincci and I won bottles of RL perfume and Ace won a Mossimo watch. (Rain’s prize was waiting for her online… hehehe)

There is a saying that goes All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. No wonder there are no dull Jacks (and Jills) in our team. Thanks, Channel V for sharpening the (social)blade. We want to partner with you guys again. GET BRITNEY.

The John Mayer Experience

After a concert countdown that irked a lot of my friends, the calendar hit October 2 and just like that, John Mayer Day is finally over.

I made sure I annoyed my followers and contacts before, during and a wee bit after the concert with updates and whatnots.

It’s this blog’s turn to annoy all you haters and make my fellow fans happy.

So, I was with Trick, Kassy, Joko,

Joline and Tamille. And umbrellas ann raincoats.

The concert started around 9 with Aiza Seguerra as the front act.

Aiza was amazing. She sang Runaway, Kiss From a Rose, Akala Mo (?), Bilanggo, Bette Davis Eyes and Ang Huling El Bimbo. My favorite from all those? Bilanggo. I didn’t like the original, but her version rocked the house! Kudos, Little Miss Philippines! 🙂

Aiza’s not only amazing, she’s also lucky because it didn’t rain (or at least, not much) when she and her band was onstage.

As for the main act, well, let’s just say that John Mayer got me wet. And all the other girls. Even the boys. Punyetang ulan. JM said, “You waited 5 months and then it rains.”  The rain was mostly a bitch, but it sorta made the experience fun. Haha, that’s how I imagined Woodstock would be like. Thank God it stopped raining sometime middle of the show.

Look at him.

He looked as if he just woke up and realized he has a concert to go to and just picked the nearest shirt and put it on. And the hair!!! Unruly. I know some girls who’ll give anything to run their fingers through those locks. Mwehehe, I’m not one of those girls. I’d rather get him a nicer shirt to put on. Or just have him shirtless!

LOL, okay, moving on…

JM and his boys performed No Such Thing, Perfectly Lonely, Aint No Sunshine, Slow Dancing in a Burning Room, Waiting on The World to Change, Your Body is a Wonderland, Who Says, Heartbreak Warfare, Gravity, Do You Know Me, Why Georgia, and for his last song– Half of My Heart with a sample of Don’t Stop Believing. And GASP! for encore, Edge of Desire. There was 1 or 2 songs that I don’t remember, simply because I don’t like them. Sad that he didn’t play My Stupid Mouth, Lovesong for Noone, Back to You and Friends Lovers or Nothing, but then again like what Gary V tweeted, it’s hard to choose when you have so many hits. But damnit. Huhuhu. I really wanted Neon in the setlist! Oh well! I hope he comes back next year and play all the other great songs!

Truth is, even if I don’t think he was THAT engaging concert-wise and even if I am not fond of people with a cleft chin, I still love him. Because John Mayer IS  John Mayer. And he’s a sexy sexy sexy man that can make me brave the rain on any given day. But hopefully, the next concert’s in Araneta.
