#RamenTweetup

This is a loooooong overdue post. Here, babatukan ko na sarili ko for being a lazy blogger. *batoks self* Araaaayyyy. :p

Last November 13, Yo, aka @yesyesyo and I, aka @iyassantos (how creative) went to a far, far away land called Eastwood to attend the #ramentweetup organized by @kevinyapjoco. Reasons why we braved the early holiday traffic– (1) We wanted to know if Ramen Bar really has the best noodles in town, (2) we wanted to meet our friends from the twitterverse (yes naman, parang modern mIRC eb lang!) and (3) we wanted to win in the raffle (prizes provided by Leyende , HeyWhereYou , Wright Supply Co , City Delivery , Conti’s and a lot more!).

the tweeps and me (and my palo-palo arms) happy with the tweetup turnout

Ok… Food! We had the R.B.S. #1 (Ramen Bar Special #1 priced at 380php). It’s a soy-infused ramen with nori, negi, tamago, naruto, kakuni and chasyu. It reminded me of the ramen Lolo Yamada (my dad’s former boss from Tokyo) used to make when we would visit him in his condo. The ramen was flavorful and filling, but was not as hot as I expected it to be. I hope the next I go there, they serve it to me piping hot-hot-hot! Yung tipong, mapapaso ang ngala-ngala ko. :p

I liked the ramen with the Kakuni Buns (180php). It’s mantao with braised (?) pork, lettuce, Japanese mayo and an unknown yummy brown sauce.

For dessert, we had the Tempura Ice Cream (120php). There’s vanilla ice cream inside the deep fried batter. And yes, of course, it’s drizzled with chocolate sauce. I liked it, but I liked John and Yoko’s Tempura Banana Split better. :p

I failed to take a picture of their menu, so here’s their board. Hehe.

So, eating good food… CHECK! Meeting tweeps… CHECK! Winning awesome prizes… CHECK! CHECK!

I won Leyende products and a Conti’s gc. Yay!

I’d like to thank everyone for the fun night (@tinatonio @jefftagle @iamjoycab @divasoria @dronthego @jploh @ryanyam @farraselda @mylenesarah @adobongsinigang @urbanfervor @chiknilla etc!)

And of course, super thanks to Kevin for doing a great job in organizing the #ramentweetup!

O ano na? #rizaldaytweetup naman! Hahahaha!

From Moonwalking to Jai-hoing

Jai-hoing?

Hoing? That sounds funny. Haha, oh well. Friday was jampacked with activities! Instead of going to BPI Buendia for organizing recruitment leads and meeting with Sir Adolf re: Job Description, I went to Shaw to man the rec booth. I missed my squeaky clean post and the comforts of a/c, but I reckon it’s better that I stayed away from the place where I felt high levels of annoyance and insult last Thursday because of a certain twit who doesn’t have even a hint of what professionalism is. Weh, may araw ka rin. Karma is fast. Boo! Ayan na sa tabi mo!

Anyhoodles, after work, I met up with Kas and we were supposed to go to Eastwood together for the Michael Jackson tribute hosted by 89.9. (Muchos gracias, bella Mia!) Eh, umulan. Ng malakas. Nakaka-wa poise! Thank you, Papa God that exbf Ejay misses us terribly (terribly naman talaga, haha) and was just in Tektite.

*tawag kay Ejay*
Me: Mahal mo kami di’ba?
Ejay: Oo naman.
Me: Namimiss mo kami di’ba?
Ejay: Sobra!
Me: Good! Sundo mo kami ni Kassy! Sabay-sabay na tayo pumunta Eastwood. Heheheeh.

Nakakaguilty kay Ejay kasi inabot kami ng 2 1/2 hours papuntang Libis. Naknampotah na traffic! Gutom na gutom na kami! We semi-survived until Red Ribbon thanks to my ever-ready crackers and his chocolate cupcake. Hehe. Lamon to the max sa RR before the MJ show.

The tribute was fantastic. En masse appreciation of fans and non-fans for the late, great MJ. My respect for his art tripled. I had fun watching his videos, and I had to resist temptation by humiliating myself in public through doing the Thriller moves. We watched Luke…. Mijares. (Na-enjoy ni Kwe, sobra!) And Duncan Ramos. Boy, they’re good! Sayang, wala si Gary V! Hehe. Or si Billy Joe.

Manor, after the show. XOXO to CJ and his cousin, DJ CY for putting us on the guestlist. Kwe and EJay went home na. Pumalit naman si Joko (who looked extra wowowow pretty c/o her fantabulous dress. Galing siyang prom ng matatanda) and Rod (na galing St. Luke’s yata). I didn’t enjoy the first few minutes there because nasa daanan kami. I almost non-accidentally spilled beer to a brattybitchykid who had zero knowledge of “Excuse me.” Buti na lang, we saw Mia, her cool and pretty Mommy, and the other djs and we joined them. Wooohoo. I love having my own table in a crowded superclub! So there, I started to loosen up. And drinks galore! Kudos and highfives to Rod and CJ. Bearhugs for the SML, Mai Tai and Absolut Raspberry. Time to hataw sa sayaw albeit the totally uncomfortable outfit. Weh. It’s not the party clothes– it’s the party attitude! Go bunny dancesteps sa saliw ng tugtuging Jai Ho! Or was it another song? Baka, YMCA? Or yung shot through the heart and you’re to blame ni Bon Jovi? Haha. Remixes are fun! Funfunfun! As long as you’re not in Decades or the likes. Haha. This night’s memories will sustain me until I get my ass back to Tabu. Next week, LAX! Woot!10

The night ended with us taking pictures with an Optimus Prime replica. I would have liked it better if it was Hannah Montana. Hmmm, tears. I haven’t watched the movie yet. But, tomorrow is another day. And the day after is another step to weekend. Did I say LAX? L-A-X! And there’s another thing happening on the 18th! I can’t wait!

I’m so excited, napapamoonwalk ako! Kahit hindi ako marunong!!!

Food, Project & Food Project

I had two nights out last week with the girlfriends. First one was last Wednesday with Joko and Kwe. We had dinner in Plate and Yummy in A Venue. Weird yet delicious pad thai and crunchy savory sisig! Don’t ask me why the pad thai was weird. I’m not a food expert. Tagakain lang ako. :p But I think I heard something about the mushrooms. Weh, basta, masarap! Vanilla frappes after in Coffee Bean while having a Manila Toffee Company meeting and waiting for Doc CJ to give us the pasalubong from Baguio. Chocoflakes and lengua de gato! Mmmmmmm!

Ako tagakain? Wait, hindi lang pala ako tagakain. Tagabenta na rin pala ako! 😀 Kinikilig ako na dumadami na ang bumibili sa amin ng homemade truffles and toffee. 🙂 Dark chocolate tablea is still the best seller! Favorites rin ang white chocolate vanilla and English toffee. Interested? Email me so I can give you more details. iyassantos@yahoo.com and iyassantos@live.com

Second foodtrip night was last Friday with the girls minus Kwe (hardworking kasi, pfffftttt!!!). We were supposed to eat at Mister Kebab in West Ave but the damn place was packed. We were 20th in line, so we decided to go to Eastwood instead kaysa tumirik ang mata namin sa gutom. Teriyaki Boy! Dindin c/o my LLB Carla. If you still don’t know what LLB means, it’s Lesbian Lover sa Bituka. Carla is the only person is this natural world whose bituka can feel the needs and wants of my own bituka. Hence, she’s my numero uno lamon partner. Unagi, gyoza, maki, teriyaki, tempura, tofu, etc etc! Sarap! At double sarap kasi libre! Hehehe! Dairy Queen for dessert. So happy with their Banana Split Blizzard. At mukhang lahat rin sila na-happy dun, dahil lahat yata kami nakakain dun sa 12oz na in-order ko. Yummmmyyy! Noted: Oreo Cake for Carla’s 28th birthday. Hehehe.

Projects, projects… I have two. First is to get more people to enjoy the truffles and toffee. Again, email me for more details! And two, my food photoblog. I’ve put events into motion. It’s only a matter of time. Trust me, this is going to be goooood. 🙂 Just wait for it, wait for it. WAIT.FOR.IT!

Speaking of projects, I would like to congratulate Carla for getting Jake Cuenca to love her. SERIOUSLY LOVE her.

jakelovescarla

O diba. Serious! Hahaha! After hundred of iloveCarla photos, LLB, you finally got Jake to love you. I’m so happy for you. Is Daddy Panda Mike happy for you, too? Hehehehe. Belated happy monthsary, pandas! XOXO Mommy Bunny (part panda) IYA
