Friday Five: Little Iya

I had a pag-iinarte moment last Halloween when I called my Dad to tell him, “Hindi niyo ako mahal!!!” because I did not experience trick or treat when I was a kid. He had to remind me na hindi uso ‘yon sa lugar namin sa Bataan and that nakarami naman ako nang napuntahan ko na mga fiesta. Point taken. :p

I was just kidding when I told him that, you know. I had a wonderful childhood. In fact, I’ve been posting a lot of old photos on my Facebook wall lately just because it makes me remember how much my parents have always loved and adored me. 🙂

SERIOUSLY, I was never spoiled. I was never a brat, too. Errr… okay, sige… slight. Slight lang. Takot ko lang kina Daddy at Mama! Mapapalo talaga ako! My parents were strict until I was in college. Hindi ako makapag-inarte sa kanila dati kaya ngayon ko na lang ginagawa. :p

I have a lot of kengkoy conversations with my Daddy and I am indeed a daddy’s girl. But hey! I’m a Mama’s girl, too! Wala naman ng alternative si Mama kasi ako lang ang anak nila! Yep, to those who still do not know, I am an only child. Only problem, sabi nga ni Daddy dati. (Loko ‘yun ah. Hehe.)

So, yeah, not being able to dress like a vampire or witch and get candies from the neighbors did not stop me from having a happy childhood. I would still wanna dress up for Halloween next year though! :p

Friday Five: Hindi Ka Niya Gusto

Mas malupit pa sa mga linya noong nakaraang linggo ang FRIDAY FIVE ko ngayon. Ito ang version ko ng He’s Just Not That Into You. Ang version ko ay, He’s Really Not Into You. Move On, Get A Fucking Life.

Ito ay dahil may naalala akong conversation na naganap a couple of days ago.

It’s happening again because you’re doing it again!!!
Hello? hindi lang naman ako ang at fault dito noh.
Parang lang ‘yan ‘yong nangyari sa inyo ni ___ eh! Akala mo ‘yun na. Akala rin namin, ‘yun na. Pero naging kayo ba? HINDI!!! May gusto ba siya sa iyo? WALA!!!
O, tama na. Masakit na ha. Taaamaaaa naaaaaa!
I’m just saying ‘wag ka na d’yan. Don’t waste your time on him.
Yeah, you’re right. damn it, you’re right.

1. Hindi ka niya tinatawagan o tinetext.
Kahit wrong send lang kuno, wala. Kahit pa forwarded cheesy quote o chain text na nakakamatay, wala. Who cares kung pinaghirapan niyang kunin ang number mo o kinantahan mo siya ng Call Me, Maybe. Basta hindi ka niya kino-contact, ang silbi mo lang ay pampadami ng phonebook entries niya.

2. Hindi ka niya niyayayang lumabas.
Kung ayaw ka niyang makita, ayaw rin niyang maging parte ng buhay mo. Kung yayain ka man niyang lumabas, pero may kasama kayo, ‘wag ka pa rin mag-ilusyon. Ang tao na gusto ka, gusto ka rin dapat solohin. At kapag nasolo ka niya, hindi siya dapat natatakot na kayong dalawa lang.

3. Hindi ka niya inaalalayan.
Big deal ito sa akin, kaya sinama ko ito. Kung makasama mo siya at tumawid kayo sa kalye at hindi siya pumunta sa danger side, wala siyang paki sa iyo. ‘Wag ka na ring umasa na ipaghanda ka niya ng upuan o ipagbukas ng pinto. Kahit pa independent woman ka, gugustuhin mo ba ng hindi gentleman?

4. Hindi ka niya kimukumusta.
Ito ay sa kung nag-uusap man kayo sa Facebook o magkita sa event (hindi ka nga niya tinatawagan o tinetext diba). Kung wala siyang paki sa mga ganap sa buhay mo, asa ka pa na magkakaron siya ng paki sa puso mo. At utang na loob ha. Napaka-accessible ng communication dahil sa social media ngayon. No excuses.

5. Hindi ka niya binibigyan ng oras.
Obvious naman na sa unang apat ko na nabanggit na walang panahon sa iyo yung tao, kaya natural na rin na wala siyang interes sa iyo. ‘Wag kang magpapadala sa sabi-sabi na busy siya. Punyetang excuse lang ‘yan. Ang taong may gusto, kahit na busy, hindi busy. Anti-delusion motto: ‘Pag gusto, may paraan. ‘Pag ayaw, may dahilan.

Mahirap tanggapin ang mga ito lalo na kung gusto mo talaga ‘yung tao, kung gustong-gusto mo na magustuhan ka rin niya. Pero isipin mo lang, maganda na sa maaga pa lang, alam mo na.

‘WAG KA NANG UMAPILA.

Wala siyang gusto sa iyo. Akala mo lang mina-mindgames ka niya.

OK, FINE. Nagtetext siya sa iyo, tinatawagan ka niya, inaalalayan ka niya, lumalabas kayo… kahit ramdam na ramdam mo na the feeling is mutual. Malamang friendly lang ‘yung tao. Baka hindi ka lang nagmamalay, o dine-deny mo lang na you have just been friendzoned. Or worse, bro-zoned (tinawag ka niyang dude o pare).

TANDAAN: HANGGANG HINDI SINASABI SA IYO NA GUSTO KA NIYA, WALA SIYANG GUSTO SA IYO.

Friday Five: Malulupit na Linya

Halos isang buwan akong hindi nakapagsulat. Daming ginagawa. Dami ring mga bagay na hindi pa ako handang ikwento dito. Ayoko lang abutin ng saktong isang buwan na hindi ko man lang mailagay itong mga sinabi sa akin ng mga tao sa nagdaang 4 na linggo na nakawindang sa akin…

1. “Hindi makita ang projector. Nasaan na ang projector?” – Boss Ace

Pagod na pagod ako mula sa event namin sa office at nakahilata na sa kama para magpahinga noong nakita ko ang message na ‘yan ng boss ko. Hindi ako burara sa gamit at ibinilin ko ng mabuti ang projector sa tao namin kaya para akong nagka-mini heart attack nang matanggap ko ang text na ‘yan. Naknangtokwa. Hindi ako ‘yung tipo na nakakawala ng gamit. Lalo na, mahal pang gamit. Pabalik na sana ako ng office para ako mismo ang humalughog sa buong lugar para makita ang projector nang makatanggap ako uli ng text na, “Ok na. Nakita na. May nagpasok pala sa cabinet.” *WHEW*

2. “‘Pag hindi ka nakahanap (ng kainan sa may España, Manila na nagbebenta ng exotic food), gagawin mong profile picture for 1 week si Justin Bieber.” – Atty. Argel

Hindi ako nakahanap kaya kung napansin niyo, isang linggo akong dumanas ng kahindik-hindik na kahihiyan na Justin Bieber ang pagmumukha ko sa Fb. Bakit kasi nag-call ako sa pustahan, eh laking Sampaloc naman pala ‘yung kapustahan ko. Akala tuloy ng ibang tao, nagbabaliw-baliwan ako kaya pinalitan ko ang profile pic ko. May mga tao pa na muntikan akong mai-unfriend dahil doon. And worse, may mga tao na ang nicknames sa akin ngayon are JB and Biebs. Pakkshet. Impulsive gambling is one of my personality defects. At least, I gave them something to talk and laugh about. :p

3. “Ang problema kasi sa iyo, nagse-set ka ng sobrang high standards. Tapos, ‘pag may dumating na ganon sa buhay mo, ikaw na rin mismo naglalagay ng barriers.” – Archenemy Dave

In fairness kay David, kahit na saksakan siya ng salbahe sa akin, naniniwala naman ako na good judge of character siya MOST OF THE TIME. Hindi nga lang ako nag-a-agree sa sinabi niyang ito tungkol sa akin. Sure, I set high standards. Bakit naman hindi? Naniniwala naman ako that I deserve to be with a great person. Hindi naman perfect person ang hinahanap ko. I’m just waiting for the right person for me. At barriers? Bakit naman ako maglalagay ng barriers? Problema na nung lalake ‘yon kung pakiramdam niya eh gumagawa ako ng invisible wall around me. Kung gusto niya ako, tibagin niya ang pader. Pero seryoso, wala akong pader na nilalagay. O wala nga ba talaga? Pati tuloy ako, nagdududa na sa sarili ko.

4. “Kapag natapos na ang 3-day rule, dapat consistent na ang lalake sa pagpaparamdam.” – Love Idol Jem

‘Yan ang sabi sa akin ni Jempots nang mapag-usapan namin ang nagbabagang topic na panliligaw. Bakit kailangan magwonder yung babae kung interesado sa kanya kung interesado naman talaga? Hindi naman porke interesado, liligawan na siya. Para sa akin, lack of courtesy sa babae ang rule na ito. But then again, baka nga naman may magandang rason ang lalake para i-follow pa ‘yan sa panahong ito. Kung ang rason niya eh para hindi siya magmukhang overeager, it’s cute but it’s dubious. At sa sinabi naman ni Jem, ewan ko. Hindi ako lalake kaya hindi ko alam kung totoo ‘yan. Pero may point siya. Kung ang lalake ay nagpapaka-inconsistent sa pagpaparamdam sa buhay mo, hindi nga yata magandang senyales ‘yan. At sa mundo ko rin, being inconsistent is a red flag behaviour.

5. “Ang puti-puti mo ngayon. Ang payat-payat mo pa!” – Gradeschool Classmate Jonah

Nagulat ako dito kasi kahit kelan naman, hindi ako naging nognog at mataba. Makes me wonder kung ano pang characteristics ko ang nagbago sa paningin ng mga taong matagal na akong hindi nakita. One thing’s for sure. Ang ganda-ganda-ganda kong bata dati. Ngayon, maganda na lang. LOL

Friday Five: Jap’s Picks for My Rock Playlist

Got bored with my playlist so I sent an SOS to the best person who can help me.

“Hoy Jap, sendan mo ako ng upbeat rock!”

And so she did. I opened my email, expecting that audio files would be there. Not only the files were emailed, she even included a blog-like description of the songs that she chose to send. Good job, Jap for treating this as an assignment. I give you 5 stars for effort! :p

Here’s what she put in the email and what I think of each song.

1 Louie Louie by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts

Jap: This became a bonus track from the album “I Love Rock & Roll”. During the 70’s, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts was the symbol of bad-ass all girl rock band they wore clothes that were unaccepted by the common crowd back then but is totally in fashion today. I especially like the part when she Sings “…woe bebe! say we gotta go!” I always sing with the music on this part alone!

I give this song five stars!

Iya: I was hesitant to listen to this at first because I thought this is the original version of my absolutely hatest 80’s hit with lyrics “Brother Louie Louie Louie, oh she’s only looking to me!” , hehehe! This reminded me not to judge a song by its title especially if its artist is a rock royalty. This song rocks my socks.

2 I Love Rock & Roll

Jap:   A song by the same band was released in 1979 featuring the Sex Pistols ( so cool ) this one is simply a rock classic! If there is a chick flick- this one is a chick song with an attitude!

This is a rockin’ four!

Iya: Was a bit insulted with the idea that my bff assumed that I didn’t know this song yet. Excuse me, Jap. This is already in my playlist. But fine, I have Britney Spears’ version. Hihihi. :p Also, this is one of my videoke picks.

3 Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love by Van Halen

Jap: This has funky I-don’t-care lyrics & glamorous electric guitar riffs w/c is overall a satisfying sensation in the ears lol! Eddie Van Halen started the Van Halen band in 1974 & got a break in 1977 courtesy of ene Simmons from the band Kiss who discovered them at a local club. By the early 80’s, they were considered rock gods.

Five fucking stars!

Iya: Hands down, my favorite among the five. I would like to dedicate this song to my last boyfriend. Bwahahahahahaa!!! I should listen to more Van Halen.

4 Blister in the Sun by Violent Femmes

Jap:  Another one of them rock songs inspired by drugs. It’s a feel good feel high no need to understand the lyrics song. It was released in their 1983 self-titled debut album.

Iya: I’ve become familiar with this song from hearing it in various soundtracks, like Gross Pointe Blank. Only came to know the title because of Jap’s email. It’s really not something that will wake me up in sleepy mornings to prepare me for combat in the workplace, but I can definitely listen to this on roadtrips.

5 Take On Me by Reel Big Fish

Jap:  This is a reggae-ska-rock take of the song originally sung by A-Ha.

3’s a charm.

Iya: I normally prefer originals over covers, but my vote goes to Reel Big Fish. Sory, A-Ha. Loved the reggae vibe. Made me headbang and sway hips. Weird combo, but well… it’s a sorta-weird song.

True enough, the songs did pick me up this morning on my way to the office. I only had a couple hour of sleep, but I rocked my way to Pacific Star while listening to these upbeat rock goodies. I hope you also get to enjoy these songs as much I did!

The Return of Friday Five

It’s Friday and the 1st day of the last month of the 1st half of the end of the world of the year. Whew! Thought of reviving the Friday Five section of my blog just so I can post ANY 5 RAVES/RANTS that I feel like letting the whole world know. I think the last time I had an F5 entry was when I was still blogging in blogspot. Been so long since I last had this quick satisfaction of attempting to immortalize the mundane and seemingly mundane here in the www.

I love buying turon from Jollijeep. It’s only 12php. Don’t really care if there’s langka (jackfruit) inside as long as it’s glazed with a crazy amount of sugar. Turon is my favorite local sweet snack. You can have your bananacue and camotecue. Gimme my turon.

This indie rockband song was introduced to me by Eunice. There’s a sidestory about hearing this upbeat song in the wedding of a very non-upbeat bride and groom.

Just finished Season 1. Will start season 2 tomorrow while I’m vacationing in Bataan. Liking it because of the dresses, the witty dialogue, and Maggie Smith. I’ve loved Maggie Smith since Sister Act. Siya si Madre Superiora. 🙂

4 FREE CONCERT TICKETS

Phil Star delivered compli NKOTBSB concert tickets to the office today. I was thrilled to receive it even if I won’t be able to go and see Nick Carter in flesh. Just as I mentioned, I’ll be in Bataan. Will just videoke my alltime fave BSB hit, Anywhere For You. Uhuh. That saksakan ng cheesy song. I’m so fucking consistent, yeah?
