My Newest Favorite Movie

I’m a sucker for movies about teaching and sports.

About teaching, because I used to be a teacher (preschool to college… yes, preschool… you read right… don’t judge… hahaha). About sports, because I’m athlectically gifted I like watching men and/with/play with balls (and other… errrr… devices) even if I have close-to-nil knowledge about the rules of the game.

Some of my favorite movies are Coach Carter, Mighty Ducks, Remember the Titans, Bend It Like Beckham, Cutting Edge and Friday Night Lights.

The newest addition to the roster is…

I should have never believed Joko when she said the film’s not so nakakaiyak, because I was already crying 10 minutes from the opening credits. Galing talaga ni Ate Sandra! Well-deserved acting awards for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy, the adoptive mother of the main protagonist, Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron). Major hagulgol na ako when the pictures of the real Leigh Anne, Michael and their other family members were shown in the ending credits. I must have finished a whole box of Kleenex.

Sample! Sample!

Leigh Anne Touhy: [from trailer] Find some time to figure out another bedroom for you.
Michael Oher: This is mine?
Leigh Anne Touhy: Yes sir.
Michael Oher: I never had one before.
Leigh Anne Touhy: What, a room to yourself?
Michael Oher: …A bed.

Such a beautiful, inspiring,  movie. In fact, I’m watching it again tonight, and I will finish another whole pack of kleenex. This time, not so much because of the movie, but because I have the sniffles. 😦
