2 Weeks 2 Go

Woe is me.  I have not blogged anything decent for the past few and I have my paucity of raw talent and meagerness of quality time to credit.

Been engaged in important things that are reviving my gastritis attacks. While the Chinese are distraught because of the earthquake aftermath, and the Burmese because of the cyclone, I am frenzied by the Big Move-Out.

At the onset, I was thrilled to be leaving the South. I thought I spent too many years, 16 to be exact, being southside-steady. I was ready to break out of the BF-Bubble and enjoy the North (of the metro) way of life.

The idea of living in Mandaluyong 2 weeks from now with my cousins,  visiting Ate Bec in Katipunan, spending Saturday mornings jogging in UPDil, foodtripping in Tomas Morato, beer guzzling in Metrowalk all appealed to me– until I spent one night in Bicutan with two of my best girlfriends, Jap and Yo. We spent the evening bonding over boys, career, and kalokohan- something that we didn’t get to do much in our Bataan trip. I thought, when I leave Paranaque, Yo will be going to Jap’s house without me. They’ll be talking about the things I also want to talk about while I juggle building my career and budgeting my finances in Mandaluyong. If I get to be lucky, they might just include me through a phone patch interview. Jealous much? Boo hoo. :(

And when I was on my way to BF last night, I looked at the old and new establishments along Aguirre. All are too familiar, yet strangely comforting. How I will miss the spur of the moment drinking sessions in Tides and N-los! I wouldn’t be even there to see The Pergola Mall flourish.  :(

It’s not like I’m never going back to the South, I’m just feeling a scrap of misery ‘coz of the budding separation anxiety. And worse, I’m having trouble which place I am to consider home.

I’ll be damned if I can’t be forced to good by the Big Move-Out. Mum’s already fretful that I might spend too much time out of the pad partying and destroying my life. I told her with utmost confidence that I’m already 26 and I’d be an idiota and a half if I decide to fuck up my life at this stage. But admittedly, I still need her to remind me to take my vitamins religiously and to coach me on how to properly hasang a fish. :p

I’m sleeping over at Manda tonight so that I can check out the room I am going to stay in. In the coming days, I will finish packing the things I will bring there and sending to our house in Bataan. (Post about my parents moving back to Bataan soon.) I’d also be preoccupied shopping for stuff like a new bed, dvd player, junkfood healthy tummy staples, and booze. Yeah, I’m not going to cross the last thing out. Haha. Don’t tell my mommy. :p

Overkill? Haha.

He said,

“I’m honored to have been your FIRST LOVE (?), but I’m still pissed that you reduced me to a REBOUND BOOTYCALL when you realized that it’s never going to work out with him.”

Whoaaaaa. Haaaaaarsh!

Killer.

I finally got to watch the awesomeness that is IRON MAN!

Good thing I listened to the 11 out of 10 people who said that this is a must watch flick. I give it 2 thumbs and 2 big toes up! :p

Never had a doubt that Robert Downey Jr’s perfect for the role. His real life relationships and booze and drugs and driving around naked history was perfect training for Tony Stark’s likeable asshole persona. Plus, they’re both from geeky to sexy!

Just in case you don’t remember, Downey was Marissa Tomei’s love interest in the 1994 romantic comedy hit, Only You.

Remember Damon Bradley? :D No. That’s not him.

Can’t remember? Download the movie and fall in love with him.

Don’t like romantic comedies? Then watch Gothika where he played opposite Halle Berry or Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with former Batman, Val Kilmer.

Ok, back to Iron Man. I listened to the radio yesterday morning and one of the djs said that one has to wait for the credits to finish, so i did. There was a 30-sec epilogue of Nick Fury prepping Stark about the Avenger Initiative. If Iron Man was the birthday party, the epilogue was the lootbag! I am sooo watching the sequel on April 30, 2010!

But before that, I have to reactivate my social life and watch a new movie at least twice a month!

Some of the movies I am itching to watch:
Wanted
Teeth
Kung Fu Panda
Get Smart
and
The Hottie and The Nottie

Watch with me? :)

WORK IS WORK
work’s becoming rigid. everything’s regulated now. the shift, the call-outs, the breaks, the internet usage… *gasp* intenet usage!!!! and i quote one of my colleague’s YM status, “minimum supervision but all eyes on you.” uggghhh… i’m just grateful that i work with a fantastic team– responsible yet pasaway in some areas– like me!

NO-ELEV RULE
robert and i made a pact that we’re not going to use the elevator anymore, unless we’re about to be late for work. our office is located at the 7th floor so it’s good enough exercise for now. i still have to lose the 5lbs i gained from the bataan trip.

BASTILLE CAFE WITH JAP
dinner and coffee with the besty. she surprised me with this question, “iya, if you were to change something about me, what would it be?” i told her that i just want her to be assertive. that i want her to have a bigger appetite for the opportunities around her.” hmmm… perhaps i should follow my own advice.

MOVING OUT, MOVING IN
we’re moving out of bf homes soon and i dont know if my parents are already sure of the faaaarrrr-north move. me, i’m 99.99% sure that i’m bringing my ass to my tita’s pad in mandaluyong. i’ll be living there with 2 of my cousins, Yen and Maffy. i can’t wait! i’m going to buy me a new bed! wheee!

RICHARD’S A TARD
he’s a retard but i miss him anyway. i want him to become a bum… errr… home-based again and just spend all his time talking to me. i want our arguments back. i want things the way they were before. i want my shock absorber back. :(

MISSING THE EX-SKT
i remembered him the other day because i heard sean kingston’s beautiful girls on the radio. (he sang it to me the day we parted ways. hahaha how fitting… not!) i wonder how he is. i hope he’s ok. i miss him. i miss him a lot– more than i miss richard! sometimes i feel like calling him when i need someone to talk to, someone who’d understand. i just continuously resist the temptation because by now, he might not be able to understand anymore. or he might not even care at all. :( :(

OVER-EATING
i have become an emotional eater. i eat when i’m happy. i eat when i’m sad. haha. patay tayo d’yan!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GIO!
it’s my ex-boyf’s 26th year of existence today. my wish for him is that, wag na sana siyang mangolekta ng mga ex. hahahaha!

Neither fish nor fowl: Platypus genome decoded
by Marlowe Hood

PARIS (AFP) - Arguably the oddest beast in Nature’s menagerie, the platypus looks as if were assembled from spare parts left over after the animal kingdom was otherwise complete.

Now scientists know why. According to a study released Wednesday, the egg-laying critter is a genetic potpourri — part bird, part reptile and part lactating mammal.

The original plan was to finish posting the BeachTrip2K8 pictures and stories, but I decided to just let my Multiply do the talking. Bottomline is, the trip exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait to go back to Bataan with my friends!

Speaking of friends, after so many weeks of planning to meet up, Joko and I finally got together last night. It was an impromptu dinner and coffee that I hope would happen more often.

YM Convo
jokoness: iya, when you’re free, let’s go out for coffee.
iyaiyayow: sure! when?
jokoness: ikaw lola ang may toxic na schedule!
iyaiyayow: aba, kung gusto mo mamaya na eh! 7:30, greenbelt?
jokoness: keri!
iyaiyayow: keri!

See? I can be spontaneous. :p

Dinner. We tried John and Yoko in Greenbelt 5. Cusine: Cosmopolitan Japanese. I ordered the Rise of the Foie Gras and the Green Iced Tea. Joanna Katrina who’s a major help in our rice shortage (3weeks of no rice, woooow!) opted to get the Strawberry-flavored Yakult and the Tempura Banana Split.

Joko said the Yakult bev tasted like Yakult. I wonder why… Hehe. I think her tummy didn’t like it as much as her taste buds. As for the banana split, she said it was delish, but she just can’t figure why it’s the bestseller. Hmmm… probably because it’s a classic? Or maybe because people generally like bananas? Uyyyy… nun-like Joko likes bananas! B-a-n-a-n-a-s! :p

It was my first time to eat foie gras and I must say I liked the experience. I’d like to experience it again! When I’m in the mood to burn precious paper, I’d order that 1,800 foie gras dish they have. (The rice bowl only cost me P289.00.) My only qualm about it is that it’s too oily. But well, what else can I expect from fattened goose liver?

The Green Iced Tea tasted like lime like it was supposed to. I don’t know if Red tastes like real calamansi or if Blue tastes like true Dalandan. I prolly won’t get them next time, though. I want to try their sake mixes. :)

Kudos to Mr. Marvin Agustin! From Mister Donut sa Tabi-Tabi to Posh Greenbelt! I have newfound respect for him. (if you can read this, penge discount. Hahaha!)

After John and Yoko, we went to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for more chikahan. I always have great conversations with Joko, but last night was exceptional. We only chatted for a short time, but we covered almost everything– strong friendships and broken ones, family love and being a responsible child, retaliation and compassion, business and career growth, no-sex rule in Maldives *gasp*, diets and flirting….

Double kudos to Joko, for being one of my dearest friends and for introducing me to the Moroccan Mint Latte!

I deleted a post that offended the sensibilities of some people. People that I don’t even know.

I’m not really sure why I deleted it. Maybe because I realized that I shouldn’t have even posted it in the first place. I could really be mean sometimes. Of course I’m not saying it’s right, but hey, it happens! I just want to clarify that I bashed what the person did or did not do, just like half of the population who saw her on TV. But then again, this is my blog and I shouldn’t really care what I dish out or not.

The better of me won. Yeah, so like what I just said, I deleted the entry. I guess that’s the right thing to do.

My sincerest apologies to those I offended.

NA

ring ring ring riiiiiiiiiiiiing riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!!!

I rubbed my eyes, checked my bedside clock, saw that it’s only 6am, muttered a few expletives,

riiiing riiiiing riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing

and checked my phone to see who was calling me this early.

hewhomustnotbenamed calling

I looked at my cellphone and waited for “1 missed call’ to appear on the screen. When it did, I got up and took a cold shower.

While massaging conditioner onto my scalp in circles, I contemplated on returning his call. What for? Exactly. I don’t even know what his call was for. After not talking to me for more than I can bear? What am I, an afterthought?!?!!! He’s insane. Insaaaaaannnnne!

But my insanity level’s way higher.

After 30 minutes of weighing the pros and cons of one teeny action, I called him up.

riiing, riiiing, riiiing, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing

It also turned into “1 missed call”.

Moral of the story: Pag tinatawagan, sagutin agad. Wag nang magmaganda para di magtaka.

Damnit.

listening to: Case - Missing You

Day 2 of the BataanBeachTrip, I woke up at 7am to get ready for my pamamalengke. Mga pakkshucks na mga BB na kabarkada. Mga tulog mantika! BB is Buhay baboy nga pala. I was still half lango when I went to the market, but that didn’t hinder me from selecting only the freshest produce. I went to Poblacion with Mutya, my inaanak-slash-cousin so that I’d have someone to take pics and Tita Nida, my mommy’s cousin-slash-bff so that I have someone to haggle. :p

I bought dalagang bukid, bangus, hipon, alimasag, pusit, pakwan, porkchops, hotdogs, and a bunch of veggies. Also scored some pan de sal and spanish bread from my Uncle’s bakery.

When I got back to the resort, my Lola was already there. She gave us some cassava cake and biko for breakfast. Nawindang ako sa good morning question niya sa akin na, “Apo, asan ang baraha? Sabi mo sa akin kagabi, magtotong-its tayo!”

Weh, Lola, picture-picture na lang tayo. After a loooong preparation, we were all set to go to Gantuan. I said a little prayer for me, because boat rides scare me shitless.

We visited the Pawikan Center first to check if they’re still alive after PGMA visited them last March. Ok naman. Buhay pa naman sila and hindi naman naging antisocial. Hehe.

The boat ride was enjoyable. The sights and sounds relaxed me. Partida pa ‘yan kasi I forgot to take Bonamine. Ang ganda ng Morong. It’s not a popular place to go to, but it’s definitely a place worth visiting. FYI: dun nga pala ang shooting ng GMA 7’s Dyesebel.

We were a bit disappointed when we arrived at Gantuan. The sand wasn’t as clean as EastWest. The water was a bit irritating to the skin, parang may small whathaveyous na nangangagat.  But anyhoodles, my favorite pictures were taken there, so keri lang.

After the photo opp, we went back to the resort for yet another late lunch.

Amazing. Marunong nga talagang maghasang ng fish si Levi. Hahaha.
